The European Central Bank reported today that euro area’s current account recorded seasonally adjusted surplus of EUR4.5 billion in the first month of 2012.
December’s 2011 data was revised to 3.4 billion euro.
Current transfers showed EUR7.3 billion of deficit, while surpluses for services, goods and income increased in January.
The cumulated current account (12months) showed a deficit of 21.2 billion euro down from EUR50.6 billion reading in January 2011.
In the early afternoon trading EUR/USD reached 1.3166.
