According to Istat, retail sales in Italy increased by 0.7% in January, exceeding expectations for only 0.2% growth.
Previous month’s data was revised to 0.8% decrease.
Comparing with 2011 retail sales declined for a ninth successive time by 0.8%, after losing 3.7% volume of sales in December.
