The Office for National Statistics informed today that British trade deficit widened to GBP10.1 billion in April. Today’s reading exceeded highly analysts’ expectations for GBP8.5 billion reading. Previous month data was revised to GBP8.7 billion of deficit. The main reason for April’s change was drop in volume of goods exported to non-EU countries. In the meantime Eurostat reported that surplus in EU trade balance reached EUR6.3 billion, instead of 4.2 billion forecasted.
