Canadian retail sales surged higher at double the expected rate in September, according to officials data released Tuesday morning.
Retail sales rose 1.0 percent to C$ 38.2 billion in September. This gain overall retail sales marks the fifth increase in six months and was the largest advance since November 2010.
Economists expected retail sales to rise 0.5 percent.
