While the improvements announced for the Apple’s new handset might not be earth-shattering on their own, they add up to make for quite a significant overhaul in user experience overall.
On the outside, everything looks the same, except for a new color addition to the line-up – the Blushy Rose Gold. But taking a look under the hood a lot of differences come to the surface.
As Apple stated iPhone 6S (and its Plus sibling) has achieved more inner strength. This time they both use a different grade of aluminum for the chassis, one that’s also implemented in the aerospace industry. It’s called Series 7000 and is the same aluminum alloy Apple puts into its Apple Watch Sport. Well maybe this time you will not have a “bending” phone.
The pumping heart of this device is an all new A9 chip with a M9 motion co-processor embedded within to make your daily swipes flow even more smooth. The A9 is 70 percent faster at CPU tasks and 90 percent faster at GPU tasks than the A8 – which was already an impressive and fast chip. All that with a stated better energy efficiency of 20 percent.
A significant upgrade is being seen on the camera section as now the snapper comes with 12-megapixel instead of 8-megapixes and an improved auto focusing speed. A new signal processor also offers better noise reduction and improved tone mapping. 4K video is still here but this time can be captured at 30FPS allowing iPhone users to take videos with incredible levels of details.
Another big improvement is the FaceTime front camera which now spots 5-megapixels instead of 1.2-megapixel in the iPhone 6 and 6Plus. So selfie lovers – REJOIN !
The iPhone 6s and 6s Plus feature a 3D Touch-enabled Retina HD display, with resolutions of 1334 x 750 (326 ppi) and 1920 x 1080 (401 ppi), respectively. New this year is a cover glass constructed using a dual ion exchange process, which makes the glass stronger at a molecular level. According to Apple, it’s the most durable glass in the smartphone industry.
All these are under the strict supervision of Apple’s latest operating system, iOS 9. It focuses heavily on intelligence and proactivity, letting iOS devices learn user habits and act accordingly. Siri is of course always on the corner ready to provide her services.
Well, everything checks out well on paper. Worth the upgrade ?If you are packing an iPhone 6 or a premium Android phone changing up for a 6S or 6S Plus might not make sense. In fact competition is getting more fierce by the minute.
All in all a new Apple is still an Apple and dedicated fans will definitely create huge lines and camp outside stores to make sure they will be the first having one.
