Just to stay clear from the beginning. The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ is a larger version of the Galaxy S6 Edge. That means that one of the best android phones for 2015 just got bigger and a bit better. If you are a fan of larger-screened smart phones, and have been wanting to see that curved screen on a bigger device, this “smart” phone is definitely looking at you.
While it’s not vastly different from its smaller sibling, the 6 Edge Plus does have something neat to offer and that’s its entirely new curved screen. The 5.7-inch screen wraps around both sides of the device, and while those curves make the phone a little odd to hold, the footprint of the device as a whole is remarkably small.
Under the glass sits the usual suspect – a 2560 x 1440 pixels AMOLED (thats 518ppi people) with excellent viewing angles, deep blacks and brilliant colors – although sometimes a bit over saturated for the sake of the eye catch. A bunch of 501 nits of brightness are also here to provide a respectable outdoor visibility.
Great looks and exceptional build quality are still here to stay but with its tradeoffs of course as with its cousin, the Note 5. Non removable battery and the absence of a MicroSD slot still leaves a sour taste to the mouth of many potential customers. Whether this is a dissuasive factor only the future – and sales numbers – will show.
The Galaxy S6 Edge Plus is an amazing device with one very big problem: the price. For all the things the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus does so well, it’s hard to justify them as worthwhile when you consider the price.
Well, Samsung is rapidly pulling ahead of LG creating curved-screen phones that stand out among typical, blocky rectangular smart phone slabs. For Samsung, the Edge line represents its innovation in creating consumer choices and needs – consumers with deep pockets !
