After years of sketches, renderings and hypes the TESLA model X is finally heading towards an actual launch. Those who reserved for an initial run of Signature Series are now receiving invitations from Tesla to spec them out.
In fact Tesla boss, Elon Mush has given already a place and a date for potential buyers to look forward – Tuesday – September the 29th at the Fremond CA factory. And the official projection of almost 27.000 pre-orders makes the event even more spectacular.
All Tesla X models are solely available with a 90-kWh battery that’s estimated to offer an autonomy of around 400 kilometers. Pair this with an acceleration of just 3.9 s 0-100Km/h and you have a luxurious all-wheel drive missile which offers you peace of mind for travelling around the city but also in urban areas without the fear of running out of juice.
For those willing to pinch the price up around 9.000 euro from the starting price will get the Ludicrous Speed upgrade which knocks the sprint to 100Km/h to a claimed 3.2 seconds. All that while relaxing on the comfort of ventilated and headed seats.
The other side of the coin suggests that long distance road trips should require carefully planned charge cycles, although Tesla’s growing network of high speed stations make the planning easier. Also long term reliability is still a issue for this new automaker which grows bigger and more prominent by the day.
Those who want one will have to leave a refundable deposit of $ 5.000 for the Base model or $ 40.000 for the Performance model. According to Mr. Musk first production cars will be handed over on September 29 at the official factory introduction.
The Tesla Model X will have the luxury EV crossover niche to itself, or at least until AUDI launches it Q8 E-TRON middle to end of 2016. Fierce competition is expected soon from Porsche and other luxurious Brands who want to bite a large piece of the pie.
The e-CUV market is heating up already to a boiling point and the market is opening to engulf this new fruit of Automobile creation. So either get on the train or stand on the pavement and watch it passing by with blazing (but silent) speed !
